The Hermitage is one of the most remarkable museums in the world and the biggest museum in Russia. It houses a wonderful collection of millions of art pieces from all around the world. As the former residence of Russian emperors it gives you a feeling of touching the history.
During the tour you are going to walk through the grand halls of the Winter Palace, get astonished by the Peacock Clock at the Pavilion Hall, admire the mosaics and just enjoy the greatest painters of all times: Rafael, Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, Rembrandt and many others.
The Church of the Resurrection, also known as the "Savior on Spilled Blood", is mostly known not for its history, which you learn on the tour, but for extremely delicate and sophisticated interior and exterior decoration. The Cathedral is covered by mosaic created after the sketches of Russian painters. It is one of the largest mosaic collections in Europe. Besides mosaics, this cathedral is the museum of stone art. Various semiprecious stones like jasper, mountain crystal, topaz, and others are used in the embellishment.
The cathedral is an astonishing sight that you won't be able to forget!
This museum has the world's largest collection of works by Faberge which is exhibited at the Shuvalov Palace. The most valuable items are the nine Imperial Easter Eggs created by Fabergé for the last two Russian emperors. Each of them is a masterpiece of jewelry and art, as well as a unique historical monument to the reign and personal life of Alexander III and Nicholas II.
Showcases are full of exclusive objects of fantasy of all kinds, jewelry, small goods, silverware, and interior and religious objects. In addition to works by Fabergé, the collection also includes works by his contemporaries.
Peterhof, meaning "Peter's court", is a former summer residence of Russian emperors founded by Peter the Great. It is also called "Russian Versailles", as there is not only the Grand Palace but a superb fountain park with the famous Grand Cascade.
You cannot think of a better place for sightseeing on a sunny summer day. Feel the breeze of the Gulf of Finland, wander through the shades of trees and listen to the babbling of fountains or even play as kids in the Tricky fountains and get refreshed.
